One of the most common types of wax treatment is the bikini wax. This involves waxing and cleaning up any hair that could poke out of a swimsuit bottom. A Brazilian wax goes a step further, providing full pubic hair removal.
We also offer facial waxing, such as the chin or upper lip, as well as legs, arms, backs, and just about everywhere else on your body!
A question that many have is what the difference is between hard wax and soft wax. Both do a good job removing hair, but a soft wax is preferable for larger areas (like your legs) while a hard wax tends to work better on smaller, more sensitive areas.
This depends on the person and the area. A successful wax removes hair from the root. This means you’ll have no hair at all in the area when we’re done! In most people, the results of a wax last about six weeks. However, if your hair grows quicker, you may start to see some new growth in about three or four weeks. For this reason, many people schedule their waxes about four or five weeks apart.
At Y Not Beauty, we can help you determine the best schedule for you. Our helpful and experienced team wants you to feel relaxed, refreshed, and positive about yourself and your treatments.
For an optimal experience, hair should be about 1/4 inch to 1/2 an inch (0.5 cm to 1.5 cm) when you come in for a wax. If it’s too short, the wax won’t be able to grab onto all the hairs. This means you might end up with a wax that isn’t as complete as you’d like.
If your hair is too long, the process could be more difficult or painful, so this is something you may want to avoid.
For most people, it means avoiding shaving for about three or four weeks before you get your wax. Of course, everyone’s hair grows at a different rate, so this time will depend on your personal situation.
In addition to avoiding shaving for a few weeks before your appointment, you may also want to avoid tanning for at least 24 hours before you come in for a wax. Tanning can make your skin more sensitive, which could make the wax more painful.
It’s also a good idea to cut down on caffeine and alcohol in the 24 hours prior to your visit, since these drinks can cause pores to tighten.
Some people like to take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) about half an hour before the appointment.
At Y Not Beauty, we want you to feel relaxed and pampered during your visit. If there is anything we can do to make you feel more comfortable, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Y Not Beauty has created a welcoming, relaxing, and comfortable environment for our guests. It is always our goal to help you have the most pleasant and stress-free experience possible. Our team is helpful, positive, fun-loving, and here to make sure you look and feel your best.
When you come in for a treatment, we’ll talk to you about what you’re looking for, find out your preferences, and let you know our recommendations. With waxing, we first do a pre-wax treatment, followed by the waxing itself. Any stubborn hairs will be manually removed with tweezers, as necessary. We’ll then use a rejuvenating post-wax serum to soothe the area and prevent irritation.
